Las Vegas Strip suspect drives on sidewalk, arrested after 'barricade situation,' police say

A suspect was taken into custody near the Las Vegas Strip on Wednesday after a bizarre scene, authorities said. 

Officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop for a "suspicious" vehicle stop just after 3:30 p.m. on and Winnick Avenue.

Instead of pulling over, the driver began to drive recklessly, at times "onto the sidewalk," police said. 

Eventually, the vehicle stopped a short distance away on East Flamingo Road and South Koval Lane. Authorities then treated the incident "as a barricade situation."

Several minutes later, the department tweeted the suspect was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.

Albuquerque, New Mexico: Police-involved shooting leaves 1 dead

A police officer-involved shooting at a residence in Albuquerque, New Mexico Friday night left one person dead, authorities said. The Albuquerque Police Department is continuing to investigate the fatal shooting, which resulted in three officers being placed on administrative leave. No officers were harmed. According to KOB 4, the officers responded to a domestic dispute between a father and his son, who was reportedly holding knives at the time of the shooting.  APD said officers fatally shot the son after they attempted "less lethal methods." The age of the deceased is not known at this time. Idaho murders: Detectives, FBI return to crime scene where 4 university students were massacred in their sleep
