Idaho college murder investigators hit roadblock in search for knife origin: 'No real help'

MOSCOW, Idaho – Investigators combing the Idaho city of Moscow and beyond for clues pertaining to the violent murders of four university students have so far come up empty in their search for information from local knife shops.  Police investigating the mid-November stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students have contacted local businesses seeking information about the fix-blade knife believed to have been used – but have so far had no success, Idaho State Police communications director Aaron Snell told Fox News Digital Wednesday morning.  Investigators canvassed local businesses "early in the investigation" looking for information about a potential sale of a knife that matched the description of the murder weapon.  UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO MURDERS TIMELINE: WHAT WE KNOW "There was no resolution to that," Snell said. Las Vegas Strip suspect drives on sidewalk, arrested after 'barricade situation,' police say

A suspect was taken into custody near the Las Vegas Strip on Wednesday after a bizarre scene, authorities said.  Officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop for a "suspicious" vehicle stop just after 3:30 p.m. on and Winnick Avenue.  LAS VEGAS POLICE ARREST MAN LINKED TO 1980 COLD CASE MURDER THROUGH DNA EVIDENCE Instead of pulling over, the driver began to drive recklessly, at times "onto the sidewalk," police said.  Eventually, the vehicle stopped a short distance away on East Flamingo Road and South Koval Lane. University of Idaho victims' sororities on probation for 'health and safety' violations

FIRST ON FOX: MOSCOW, Idaho — The two sororities to which three of the slain University of Idaho students belonged are on disciplinary probation, according to community accountability records. Kaylee Goncalves, 21, was a member of Alpha Phi, while Xana Kernodle, 20, and Maddie Mogen, 21, were members of Pi Beta Phi.  Of 10 sororities recognized by the University of Idaho , Alpha Phi and Pi Beta Phi are the only two listed as on probation for health and safety reasons, which refers to "violations or concerns regarding risk management, alcohol/drugs, or hazing." In addition to being on probation with the university , Alpha Phi is also on a "restorative plan" with the national organization. Ohio drivers stop to scoop up cash spilled on the road

Warren County, Ohio, drivers got a bit of an early Christmas bonus on Tuesday after pulling over and grabbing money that spilled out onto Interstate 71, according to reports. ABC station WHIO reported that the chaotic scene happened at about 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, and drivers were seen pulling over, getting out of their vehicles and grabbing currency from the interstate. Dispatchers from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office told deputies in the field that there were reports of money on the highway near I-71 and SR-48. North Carolina man charged with rape in Maryland more than 40 years later

A North Carolina man with a history of indecent exposure and peeping-tom arrests has been charged in Montgomery County, Maryland, with rape and sexual assault that was committed more than 40 years ago. Police said Cold Case Detectives Alyson Dupouy and Tara Augustin, along with forensic specialists from the Montgomery County Crime Lab identified an open rape case from April 1981 in March 2022. After coming across the case, the team submitted collected evidence from the case to the Combined DNA Index System, or CODIS, for additional testing. A former Federal Bureau of Investigation special agent said the investigation into the fatal stabbing of four students at the University of Idaho shouldn't be hampered because of the school's decision to allow students to learn remotely after the Thanksgiving break. A Missouri man convicted of killing a Kirkwood police officer in a fit of rage in 2005 was put to death by lethal injection on Tuesday. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that Kevin Johnson was executed Tuesday night. Johnson was found guilty of killing Kirkwood Officer William McEntee during a fit of rage over Johnson’s brother’s death. Johnson blamed the death on police, according to court documents. A U.S. District Court Judge in Puerto Rico sentenced a man charged with committing a hate crime against a transgender woman in 2020 to 33 months of incarceration. Group of teens in Chicago committed 13 armed robberies in five hours, police say

A group of teenagers is responsible for 13 armed robberies across Chicago within a span of five hours, police said Monday.  The Chicago Police Department said the teens exited a vehicle and approached victims on foot while displaying firearms. Michigan woman pleads guilty after bringing child porn to incarcerated ex-boyfriend

A Michigan woman pleaded guilty to bringing child pornography inside a jail to show her ex-boyfriend. The woman, 43, was charged in February for bringing explicit photos of a 15-year-old girl on her phone to the Kent County Jail and showing them to her incarcerated ex-boyfriend during a video visitation. She pleaded guilty on November 2 to one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of sexually abusive material involving a minor. She is scheduled to be sentenced on January 25. Idaho Student murders update: Police say why key details are being withheld from the public

Two weeks have passed since authorities first began investigating the brutal murders of four University of Idaho students in Moscow, Idaho and no suspect or person of interest has been identified. Shooting in Atlanta leaves 1 person dead, several others injured: police

Multiple people were shot in Atlanta Saturday night following an altercation, leaving at least one victim dead. According to Atlanta Police, at least five people were shot in the shooting on Market Street near Atlantic Station in northwest Atlanta. Police said the victim who was killed was a male. Handgun owners carrying daily in US doubled in 4 years; self-protection cited as main reason: study

Twice the number of Americans were carrying handguns daily in 2019 compared to 2015, according to a new study published this month.  Around 6,000 gun owners carried handguns every day in 2019, up from 3,000 in 2015, according to a study from the American Journal of Public Health published on Nov. 16. The number of respondents to the online survey who said they had carried a gun in the last month also nearly doubled from 9 million to 16 million in 2015. The study focuses solely on owners carrying a handgun on their person, not in their car. Albuquerque, New Mexico: Police-involved shooting leaves 1 dead

A police officer-involved shooting at a residence in Albuquerque, New Mexico Friday night left one person dead, authorities said. The Albuquerque Police Department is continuing to investigate the fatal shooting, which resulted in three officers being placed on administrative leave. No officers were harmed. According to KOB 4, the officers responded to a domestic dispute between a father and his son, who was reportedly holding knives at the time of the shooting.  APD said officers fatally shot the son after they attempted "less lethal methods." Illinois police save drowning child in icy pond, mother says she thought her son 'was not going to be here'

Police in a suburban Chicago town saved a child who was drowning in an icy pond on Wednesday. The 9-year-old child fell into an icy retention pond on Wednesday around 4:30 p.m. while trying to get a football, according to the Aurora Police Department . When officers got to the scene, they saw that an adult woman also went in the pond to save the child from drowning. Officers went into the pond and saved both the woman and child and brought them back to land, officials said in a Facebook post. The 9-year-old was sent to a local hospital with minor injuries after the incident, in addition to two police officers who rescued the child in the pond. Maryland gun store looted on Black Friday, thieves allegedly took 'long guns'

Police in Maryland are investigating after multiple people allegedly broke into a gun store and left with "long guns." The incident happened on early Friday morning at around 1 a.m. when the at least five suspects allegedly broke into Atlantic Guns in Rockville, Maryland, the Montgomery County Police Department told FOX 5 . Police said that a black sedan crashed into the gun shop and the alleged thieves entered the store, taking "long guns." North Carolina mall shooting on Black Friday leaves 2 injured, police say

A shooting inside a North Carolina shopping mall injured two males on Black Friday, authorities said.  The Greenville Police Department said officers responded to the incident at 6:30 p.m. It said two males were shot near an American Eagle store.  NORTH CAROLINA POLICE SAY ONE INJURED IN WALMART SHOOTING; SUSPECT SOUGHT The mall was evacuated following the gunfire.  The injured males were taken to the ECU Health Medical Center for unspecified injuries. Washington double homicide suspect possibly involved in third deadly shooting

The suspected shooter of a double homicide in Tacoma , Washington, could be responsible for a third deadly shooting nearby, Fox13 reported .  Paul Snider allegedly killed two men near 80th and Hosmer Street near Bass Pro Shop on Monday morning.  Held at Pierce County Jail, Snider has several charges pending against him, including aggravated murder for the double homicide . During his arraignment, the prosecution said Snider could face more charges for a different case.
